Things we love: Making documentaries-films-music videos-having fun and working with North Carolina artists who know what they want and how to be rather than seem.

A brief history:

Founder/owner Richard Jaimeyfield began Dogwood Productions in 2004, but the seed of Dogwood Productions was planted while he was a student at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. During his years at UNC-CH, Richard had opportunities to work both on and off stage but found that his place was behind the scenes. Of his 1994 music video directorial debut for The Archers of Loaf, “Web in Front” he says, "I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. My life has never been the same, and I will forever be indebted to those guys." He worked on several music videos for North Carolina bands including many that played regularly on MTV, VH1 and (you may remember) Nick at Nite.

After graduating in 1996 Richard moved to Washington, DC, in hopes of working for National Geographic. However, he initially found work in the catering business schlepping barbecue never knowing that one small act of kindness would open the door to people and projects at National Geographic. Over the next decade he worked with many talented filmmakers, photographers, and producers making short films and documentaries for various production companies including National Geographic and The History Channel.

In 2004, ten years after his first music video, Richard formed the company known as Dogwood Productions, Inc. When he moved back to North Carolina from DC, the dogwood trees were in bloom and the feeling of home as a place, not an idea, was apparent to him. "I was not born here, nor was I raised here. I came here in the early 90's and went to school and while doing that I had life-changing events. A decade would pass before I returned knowing that this is my home." Dogwood Productions loves North Carolina.
